I'll never understand big business.

For years now K-Mart has been struggling to stay afloat, and now, out of the clear blue comes news that the former discount merchandise giant is considering buying into the Las Vegas Strip.

How does a company that's on the ropes suddenly throw its hat into the ring for some of the most expensive real estate in the world?

Well first off I should state that the company's plans are not for another of its familiar stores where you can buy discount boxer shorts and brooms; they want to get into the highly profitable casino business.

There are strong rumors here that Australian casino king James Packer may be eyeing the company with a notion of converting some stores into more upscale, diversified retailing outlets and a tie in to a Las Vegas Casino.

They should have some very interesting promotions and "Blue Light Specials".
